Yesterday we began our birthday celebrations as my birthday is today and my mom’s is tomorrow. We try to celebrate on the weekend so my sister and her husband can come to my parents house. But Pat had a sore throat and was unable to make it. But that didn’t stop the festivities from taking place.
As we waited for the chicken (and veggie chicken) enchiladas to cook, which was not the most brilliant idea in 100 degree weather, we began opening our presents. Ranen was a huge help in unwrapping the presents. Since I am frugal and all we had was Christmas wrapping paper it was nice to see Frosty who would have melted in this weather.
Jason got me three books that I have wanted.
Next it was Grandma’s turn
My sister, cousin and I all pitched in and got her a portable DVD player so she could watch DVD’s while sewing or whatever she likes.
And Micah stayed entertained while the wrapping paper flew.
This is how we look when we don’t think the camera is pointed at us
And now we are ready
My mom recently refinished her bathroom and took the old shower curtain and made them into shopping bags for grocery shopping. Are we “green” or what?
And she made another pair of earrings for me
My sister got me a new watch
My cousin Jayme also sent my mom a picture that used to belong to my great-grandmother. I got a cute maternity outfit from Jayme as well.
Now that presents were done, time for hugs and kisses
and some good ole teasing
After we ate, it was time for some fun in the sun
Again, when you don’t know the camera is watching
Now you do
The boy’s had a blast with the water guns, especially Jason
It was hard to get many pictures of Ranen because he was on the go so much trying to get everyone wet.
Or blowing bubbles
Or making funny faces
Between the bubbles and the hose, we wore these kids out
And today, Judy made me this delicious cake and told me we are going out to eat on Friday to the restaurant of my choice. Just the two of us….NO KIDS!!! What a birthday present.
I even got home made cards from her kids.
What a wonderful birthday. Now we get to extend the celebrations for one more day.
Happy Birthday Mom!!! I love you and I am so glad we get to celebrate our birthday’s each year.

Oh I love Ranen chasing you with the hose! Where was Micah?
Your hair is just so cute and I love all the new presents. The earrings from your mom are great…I need to get back into my “beading”.
I really loved the examples of when they knew the camera was on them and when they didn’t. Hee hee!
And a meal out Friday with your dear friend and no kids sounds amazing. I wish you were closer to me (distance obviously
) so that I could take you out too.
Happy birthday again, my friend!
