I knew this would happen

I don’t remember if I mentioned here that Ranen has been battling reflux for the past year or so. It had gotten progressively worse and then in October he was put on Prevacid. That worked great for a little bit and then stopped being as effective. So I took him off it. During that time it got so bad that he was having reflux sometimes several times an hour and a mouthful (gross, I know). So our doctor increased his Prevacid and referred us to a Gastroenterologist. This was back in late February-early March. The soonest they could see us was June 16.
During this time, Ranen was eating so much yogurt. He is a very picky eater and would have yogurt or cereal three times a day if I would let him. And I thought I would try and cut out the yogurt to see if that had anything to do with it. And surprisingly, his reflux was much improved. So in the back of my mind, I was wondering if he was not lactose intolerant.
I have been dreading calling Ranen’s doctor because I knew what they would say. But since I had to schedule Micah’s 18 month check-up, I asked for a nurse to call me back. And I knew this would happen.
Starting today, we will be taking Ranen off all dairy. I am really dreading this because of his pickiness. And the things that he favors are mostly dairy….yogurt, milk, cheese. I am so fortunate that he loves fruit. So maybe in a month or so, you will start seeing pictures of apples or grapes. You are what you eat.
So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers and we make this transition and most of all, that God will heal Ranen of this reflux if it is His will.

I’m sorry about the dairy. Do you not think he’d do soy? Like soy milk in his cereal or soy yogurt. We’ve had to take E off dairy in the past and he hardly batted an eye with those subsititutes.
Still, I hope it’s the answer to his reflux.
I hope the transition goes well for you guys. I know it’s tough!
We are a home of refluxers! Plus we are a no dairy home too! Please feel free to email me with any questions!
