I don’t know how I came across this idea or if I just started doing it but I have found paper clips to be the best book markers around. I used to read and read until I came to a paragraph that was at the beginning of a page. It was a nice clean point to stop reading and a place that I could easily find the next time I picked up my book.
That is until I started using a paper clip. Now I just place the paper clip on the page and paragraph that I would like to stop at. Then the only thing I have to figure out, is if I am on the front or the back of that page. But that is easy because the paper clip is marking my paragraph.
And they’re cheap.

I’m always in need of a bookmark – I can’t believe I’ve never thought of this! Great tip.
My husband taught my kids to dog ear, with the instruction “don’t tell mom I taught you this”. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of this, either! Great tip!!
Fantastic idea!
Oooh, I like it.
Another great bookmark is a post it note. If you have little ones who like to “play” with mommy’s bookmark and leave you searching for your spot, a post it sort of “hides.”
Hugs,
Melinda
Nice tip! Now, I just have to get some paperclips. LOL.
OUCH!
Oh, I know it looks great but please do not use paper clips as bookmarks. They damage the page even if you don’t leave them in there for long. I suppose if the book is a mass market paperback it doesn’t matter. But I cringe at the idea that a paperclip could mar the pages of a lovely hardcover.
There are so many ways to bookmark pages. Please check out a blog called “Bookmark Collector.” He links to a lot of places that offer bookmarks or talk about them. My web site has a column on bookmarks, but also a page (“Bookmark Sites”) that has links to a lot of great bookmark places.
